Our lunch club for elderly and disabled people runs over three days a week. We collect members from their homes in one of our two fully-accessible minibuses, and arrive at the centre for around 11:00am. The day starts with a cup of tea and a biscuit, followed by a three-course lunch at 12:15pm. In the afternoon we have a varied activities program, a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake, and leave on the minibuses from 3:00pm.
Opening Hours
Tuesday: 11:00am – 3:00pm
Wednesday: 11:00am – 3:00pm
Thursday: 11:00 am- 3:00pm
Each session costs £15.00, which includes morning and afternoon tea, a three-course lunch, afternoon entertainment and transport if necessary. Members can visit our charity shop, where quality second-hand goods may be purchased. An optional Holy Communion service is offered once a week, and a listening ear is always readily available.
Catering
Our food is cooked fresh by our chef, and we aim for it to be nutritionally-balanced and healthy, providing at least 3 of the recommended 5 portions of fruit and veg each day through the fresh vegetables and home made soups that we serve. Our food generally reflects British classics and favourites, and we aim to have a roast once a week on alternating days. We cater to all dietary requirements, including diabetics and allergies.
Entertainment
We aim to offer some form of entertainment most days. Regular activities include:
- Bingo
- Card games
- Quizzes
- Dominoes
- Gentle exercise classes
- Musical entertainment
- DVDs
- Massage sessions
In addition, we plan regular outings throughout the year, including shopping trips, garden centre visits, park walks, theatre trips and more.
